THE OSAGE KNAP-IN

What Are Knap-Ins? They are gatherings of craftsmen who replicate stone tools used by ancient civilaztions (ie: stone arrow & ataatl points, knives, and axes). These events are used to exchange replication methods and ideas, teach the craft to new Knappers, and they are social events for people who share common interests in archeology and primitive crafts. The Osage Knap-In is an event that has been ongoing for over two decades and has grown from just five participating craftsmen to hundreds from all over the country. It is one of the first and largest events of this kind in the USA and has a reputation as one of the best. The best Knappers in the country regularly attend this event.

The Osage Flint Knappers will demonstrate the art of making arrowheads and other stone tools on the grounds May 14-18, 2008. There will be no additional gate fee for the Knapper's area during the MRVSEA Spring Swap Meet on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
